LED CUBE HIRE

Coveya Exhibition LED Screens: UK and Germany Case Study

In 2022 Dynamo LED Displays supplied Coveya, the conveyor hire and sales specialist, with LED screen hire for five exhibitions in the UK and Germany: 2 mm indoor LED walls from 8 m to 12 m wide, a four-sided LED cube at the NEC and a 2.9 mm outdoor screen at IFAT Munich, built into Aluvision and beMatrix stands.

Updated September 2026. Case study first published October 2022.

Coveya manufactures and supplies conveyors for hire or purchase across construction and demolition, recycling and waste, water treatment, aggregates, manufacturing, packaging, plant hire and agriculture. For its 2022 trade show programme it wanted stands that showed its conveyors working, on video, at a size that could be read from the aisle. Dynamo provided LED screen hire for each show, using Aluvision and beMatrix compatible rental tiles indoors and 2.9 mm outdoor cabinets for the open-air stand in Munich. This case study lists every screen, then explains why frame-compatible LED tiles suit exhibition work and how to choose between indoor and outdoor pitch.

The five Coveya exhibition LED screens

Executive Hire Show, Coventry Building Society Arena, 8 to 9 February 2022

A 10 m × 2.5 m indoor LED wall at 2 mm pitch formed the back of the stand behind a working conveyor and a seating area. The Executive Hire Show is the UK’s hire-industry exhibition, so the content ran product specifications alongside footage of the conveyors on site.

IFAT Munich, Messe München, 30 May to 3 June 2022

Coveya’s stand at IFAT, the environmental technology show in Munich, was outdoors. Dynamo shipped a 6 m × 2 m outdoor screen at 2.9 mm pitch (2,016 × 672 pixels) and hung it from a truss goalpost above a full-size conveyor, so the screen stayed readable in daylight and rain. The same crew built, ran and de-rigged the screen in Germany.

Hillhead, Hillhead Quarry, Buxton, 21 to 23 June 2022

Hillhead is the quarrying and construction show held in a working quarry. Coveya exhibited from a marquee, and Dynamo built an 8 m × 2.5 m 2 mm indoor wall inside it, wide enough to run two product videos side by side with the brand panel in the centre.

Lets Recycle, NEC Birmingham, 14 to 15 September 2022

For the Lets Recycle show at the NEC, the stand needed to be seen from every aisle, so Dynamo built a four-sided LED cube with 2 m × 2.5 m faces at 2 mm pitch. Each face ran its own content, including footage of Coveya conveyors on the Glastonbury Festival 2022 clean-up.

PPMA Show, NEC Birmingham, 27 to 29 September 2022

The widest wall of the programme went to the PPMA Show, the processing and packaging machinery exhibition: 12 m × 2.5 m at 2 mm pitch, built as the back wall behind the reception counter so the brand and a moving conveyor animation were visible down the length of the hall.

Why frame-compatible LED tiles suit exhibition stands

Exhibition stands are built from modular aluminium frame systems, and the fastest way to add LED is with tiles made to fit those frames. Dynamo’s indoor rental tiles are compatible with both of the systems Coveya’s stand builders use.

Aluvision compatible LED tiles

Dynamo’s Aluvision compatible LED tiles are 2.06 mm pitch with a resin-finished face, which makes them hard to damage during repeated builds and keeps contrast high under show lighting. They sit flush inside the Aluvision frame, so the stand builder gets a clean edge against graphics, and they can be built into corners and cubes as well as flat walls. It is the finest pitch in Dynamo’s Aluvision compatible range.

beMatrix compatible LED tiles

The beMatrix compatible LED tiles, often called LED skin, slot into standard beMatrix frames in place of fabric or printed infills. The frame is invisible from the front, so a wall of tiles reads as one video surface with no bezels or visible fixings, and the same frames go back into the builder’s stock for the next show.

The right-angle LED wall Dynamo built for Shindaiwa at a later Executive Hire Show uses the same approach in an L-shape.

Indoor 2 mm or outdoor 2.9 mm: choosing the pitch for a stand

Pixel pitch is the spacing between LEDs. Indoors, visitors stand 1 m to 3 m from a stand wall and read text on it, so 2 mm keeps the image sharp at that distance; the method is in our LED viewing distance guide. Outdoors the priorities change: the screen must beat daylight and shrug off rain, and viewers are usually further away. Dynamo’s outdoor DRE Series rental cabinets are rated above 3,500 nits with an IP65 front (the IEC IP code for dust-tight and jet-water protection), which is why the Munich stand used 2.9 mm outdoor cabinets rather than the indoor tiles.

What the stand builder needs to provide

  • Cabinet-accurate wall dimensions from the stand drawing, so the LED fills the frame with no trims or gaps.
  • Power and control positions marked on the plan, with a dedicated supply for the screen.
  • Content sized to the screen’s native pixel count, with a separate file per face for a cube.
  • Build and de-rig times, and the venue’s access route for flight cases.

Coveya exhibition LED screens: frequently asked questions

Can Dynamo supply LED screen hire for exhibitions in Germany?

Yes. For Coveya’s IFAT stand, Dynamo shipped a 6 m × 2 m outdoor screen to Messe München, built it on a truss goalpost, ran it for the four-day show and de-rigged it. The same UK crew travels with the kit, so the client deals with one supplier for shows on both sides of the Channel.

What pixel pitch is right for an exhibition stand LED wall?

For an indoor stand where visitors read text from one to three metres, 2 mm is the usual choice and is what Coveya used at all four UK shows. Outdoor stands need brightness and weather protection more than fine pitch, so a 2.9 mm cabinet rated above 3,500 nits with an IP65 front is the better fit, as at IFAT Munich.

Can LED tiles be built into an Aluvision or beMatrix stand?

Yes. Dynamo’s indoor rental tiles are made to fit both frame systems: 2.06 mm Aluvision compatible tiles with a resin finish, and beMatrix compatible LED skin that slots into standard frame modules in place of fabric or graphic infills. The stand builder keeps its usual frames and Dynamo supplies, builds and runs the LED.

How is an LED cube built for a trade show?

Four LED faces are built around a frame so each side is a complete screen, then the processor maps four separate content feeds to the four faces. Coveya’s cube at the NEC had 2 m × 2.5 m faces at 2 mm pitch, so visitors approaching from any aisle saw a full-brightness video wall rather than the back of a screen.

Does Dynamo provide on-site support during the show?

Yes. Each Coveya screen was built and commissioned by Dynamo engineers before the show opened, and the team stayed available for content changes and support during the show days before de-rigging on the final evening. That covered five shows in eight months, including the outdoor build in Munich.
