LED Walls at CPHI Worldwide 2025, Frankfurt Messe: Dynamo Case Study

Dynamo LED Displays built two vertical DEX Series LED walls into AbbVie’s stand at CPHI Worldwide 2025 at Messe Frankfurt. Each wall measured 2.48 m wide by 3.47 m high at a 2.06 mm pitch, giving 1,200 x 1,680 pixels per wall, and both ran in sync from one NovaStar 4K processor inside a BeMatrix and Aluvision compatible stand frame.

The brief: a frameless LED centrepiece inside a modular stand

AbbVie wanted its CPHI stand to carry large moving visuals without the screens reading as bolt-on televisions. The two walls had to sit inside the stand’s own aluminium frame, flush with the printed graphics around them, and show the same content in step with each other across a stand that visitors approach from three sides. Fine text about contract manufacturing services had to stay readable to someone standing a metre or two from the wall.

What Dynamo installed

Two 2.48 m x 3.47 m DEX walls at 2.06 mm pitch

Each wall is five DEX cabinets wide and seven high. The 496 x 496 mm cabinet gives a wall 2.48 m wide and 3.47 m high with no part cabinets and no filler panels, which is why the edges meet the stand graphics cleanly. A 2.06 mm pitch is fine enough for product photography and small body text at the viewing distances you get on a congress stand, where people stand at the desk or walk past within a few metres. Our LED video walls page explains how pitch and viewing distance are matched.

1,200 x 1,680 pixels per wall

Resolution on an LED wall comes from the cabinet count, not the overall size. Each DEX cabinet carries 240 x 240 pixels, so five across and seven up give 1,200 x 1,680 pixels, just over two million pixels per wall. Content was produced to that native portrait canvas rather than letterboxed from a 16:9 master, so nothing was scaled on the stand.

Built into the stand frame, not bolted on

DEX cabinets are made to fix straight into the modular frame systems that stand builders already own. The cabinets fit the 55 mm Aluvision profile with M6 fixings and the 62 mm beMatrix profile with M8 fixings, so the LED becomes part of the stand structure. The result is a flat face with no visible bezel or surround, and the builder keeps the same frames for the next show. The same approach was used on the Coveya exhibition stands in the UK and Germany and on the right-angle DEX wall for Shindaiwa.

One NovaStar 4K processor for both walls

A single NovaStar 4K processor fed both walls so that transitions landed at the same moment on each side of the stand. Running two walls from one processor also keeps the colour and brightness settings identical, which matters when the two screens sit a few metres apart and are seen together from the aisle. Service access was from the front: DEX modules are held by magnets and the power and receiver pack pulls out from the face, so nothing behind the wall had to be reachable.

Planning an LED wall for a Messe Frankfurt stand

Size the wall to the cabinet grid

Decide the wall size in cabinets first and let the millimetres follow. A DEX wall is always a multiple of 496 mm in each direction, so a drawing that says 2.5 m x 3.5 m becomes 2.48 m x 3.47 m on site. Agreeing that before the stand drawings are final avoids a visible gap between the LED and the graphics.

Confirm the frame system early

Tell us whether the builder is working in Aluvision or beMatrix and which profile depth. The fixing kit differs between the two, and the stand builder needs to leave the right opening in the frame. For a wider view of hire for shows see our LED screen hire page and the guide to choosing LED screen hire for exhibitions and conferences.

Produce content at the native resolution

Supply content at 1,200 x 1,680 pixels for a wall of this size, or at whatever the cabinet count gives for yours. Portrait walls are often fed with a cropped landscape master, which throws away detail. A processor with a 4K input can carry two portrait canvases side by side in one signal, which is how both AbbVie walls were driven.

LED walls at CPHI Worldwide: frequently asked questions

What LED screens did Dynamo install at CPHI Worldwide 2025?

Dynamo LED Displays installed two vertical DEX Series LED walls on AbbVie’s stand at CPHI Worldwide 2025 in Frankfurt. Each wall was 2.48 m wide and 3.47 m high at a 2.06 mm pixel pitch, built from 35 cabinets of 496 x 496 mm, giving 1,200 x 1,680 pixels. Both walls were driven in sync by one NovaStar 4K processor.

Why was the resolution 1,200 x 1,680 pixels?

Because each DEX cabinet carries 240 x 240 pixels and each wall was five cabinets wide by seven high. Multiplying the cabinet count gives 1,200 x 1,680 pixels. LED resolution is always worked out from the modules or cabinets, never by dividing the overall size by the pitch, which gives a misleading figure on any wall that is not an exact multiple.

Can an LED wall be built into a beMatrix or Aluvision stand?

Yes. DEX cabinets are designed to fix directly into both systems, using M6 fixings on the 55 mm Aluvision profile and M8 fixings on the 62 mm beMatrix profile. The LED then sits flush with the printed infill panels around it and the stand builder keeps the same frames for future shows.

What pixel pitch suits an exhibition stand?

For a congress or trade show stand where visitors stand within one to three metres, a pitch around 2 mm keeps small text and product photography sharp. The AbbVie walls used 2.06 mm. Coarser pitches around 2.6 mm to 3.9 mm suit larger backdrops read from further across the hall.

Does Dynamo supply LED walls for exhibitions outside the UK?

Yes. This project was at Messe Frankfurt in Germany, and Dynamo has supplied exhibition LED for Coveya at IFAT Munich as well as at UK shows including the Executive Hire Show and DSEI. We work with the stand builder on frame compatibility, power and content well before the build day.
