The brief: a curved wall for off-plan property sales
Marketing suites sell property that does not exist yet, so the screen does the work a finished building would do. The developer wanted a single curved surface, wide enough to fill the wall and fine enough to be viewed from a couple of metres, playing CGI fly-throughs and lifestyle film. What Dynamo installed
A 1.5mm pixel pitch for close viewing
At 1.5mm the gap between LEDs is small enough that a visitor standing 1.5 m to 2 m from the wall sees a continuous picture rather than dots. That is the pitch we specify for lobbies, boardrooms and sales suites where people stand close. Our 1.5mm direct-view LED page covers the current cabinet.
Building the curve
The 3.6 m by 2 m wall follows a gentle curve rather than a flat plane. A curve is built from narrow columns of cabinets set at small angles to each other, with the mounting frame fabricated to the radius, so the join between columns stays tight and the surface reads as one screen. Installed and commissioned in one day
The frame, cabinets, cabling and processing were installed, configured and commissioned in a single day, which mattered because the suite was already trading. Pre-building the frame and pre-configuring the processors off site is what makes a one-day programme possible.
Content and monitoring from a distance
Content reaches the wall through 4K LED video processors, with new films delivered remotely rather than by someone visiting with a drive. Dynamo’s monitoring software sits on the suite’s local network and reports on the hardware, so a fault is seen in the UK before the sales team notices it. Why use a 1.5mm pixel pitch in a marketing suite?
Visitors to a sales suite stand close to the screen, often within two metres, and are looking at CGI detail of a property they are about to buy. At 1.5mm the LEDs are close enough together that the picture reads as continuous at that distance. A coarser 2.5mm or 3.9mm wall would show visible pixels from the same spot.
Can an LED video wall be curved?
Yes. This wall is a 3.6 m by 2 m curve built from narrow cabinet columns set at small angles on a frame fabricated to the radius. Tighter curves use flexible LED modules that bend to the surface. Either way the processor maps content to the true pixel layout so straight lines stay straight.
How long does an LED video wall take to install?
This Abu Dhabi wall was installed, configured and commissioned in one day because the frame was made to measure and the processors were configured before shipping. A larger or more complex wall takes longer, and the site survey, structural checks and content preparation all happen before the installation day.
How is content updated on an LED wall in another country?
Content is delivered to the 4K LED video processors remotely, so a new film is uploaded rather than carried to site. Dynamo’s monitoring software runs on the suite’s local network and reports the hardware status, which means a failed module or power supply is flagged in the UK and a fix planned before anyone in the suite has noticed.
