Dynamo DEK Indoor LED Screen Series 16:9 Ratio

Dynamo DEK 16:9 ratio fine-pitch indoor LED screen cabinets

The Dynamo DEK Series is a fine-pitch indoor LED screen cabinet built around a strict 16:9 ratio — the same aspect ratio as every HDMI source, every presentation laptop and every 2K/4K production deck your AV team is going to plug into it. That removes one of the most persistent headaches of LED video wall specification: juggling pixel counts until you hit a standard broadcast resolution. Pick a DEK cabinet set, tile it up, and you land on a clean Full HD, 2K or 4K canvas with no scaling, no letterboxing, and no “near enough” conversations with the content producer.

DEK is specified by AV integrators, corporate fitout teams, hotel interior designers and retail brands where the LED screen has to look premium on day one and keep looking premium five years in.

Why 16:9 cabinet ratio matters

Most LED cabinets come in 500×500mm or 600×337.5mm blocks, which means hitting a clean 1920×1080 or 3840×2160 resolution requires careful pixel-pitch maths and tile-count planning. DEK cabinets are dimensioned to tile natively into 16:9 canvases:

  • 2×2 DEK array → Full HD (1920×1080) — compact boardroom or meeting room screen.
  • 3×3 DEK array → 2K canvas — executive suite, control room, hospitality lobby.
  • 4×4 DEK array → 4K UHD (3840×2160) — flagship retail wall, headquarters reception, large-format corporate event space.

No scaling artefacts, no black bars, no creative compromises. What the content designer produces is what the wall shows, pixel-for-pixel.

Pixel pitch options — P0.9 to P1.87

DEK ships in fine-pitch options to suit every indoor viewing distance:

  • P0.9 — ultra-fine pitch for close-up viewing (control rooms, executive meeting rooms, broadcast studios where cameras will get within 2m of the wall).
  • P1.25 and P1.53 — the sweet spot for corporate lobbies, boardrooms and retail where audiences view from 2–5m.
  • P1.87 — large-format indoor applications (hospitality lobbies, atria, lecture theatres, 8m+ viewing distances) where you want 4K resolution on a bigger wall without stepping up budget unnecessarily.

Direct-to-wall mounting, front-service access

DEK cabinets are designed for modern fitout realities. Slim-depth construction allows direct-to-wall mounting without the 300mm+ service void that older LED walls demand — the screen sits on the wall like a piece of architecture, not bolted in front of it. Front-service magnetic modules mean any future module swap is done from the face of the wall in minutes, without dismantling rigging or removing the entire screen. That is the difference between a 30-minute service visit and a 6-hour dismantle-and-rebuild.

Real installations — DEK and sister DX series in the field

Fine-pitch indoor LED is not a new product category for Dynamo. We have delivered corporate, education, hospitality and retail installations across the UK and internationally:

  • Spool Up office LED video wall — a 4m × 2m DX Series indoor wall for a London office, specified for all-day content, internal comms and broadcast-quality video calls. See the Spool Up case study.
  • Barton Peveril Sixth Form College Finance Hub — a 25m DX 2.6mm market-data ticker ribbon for the college’s finance and business education space. Read the Barton Peveril case study.
  • Hotel Londres, Caracas — a lobby LED video wall installation delivering premium guest-arrival content. See the Hotel Londres case study.

FAQs

Why choose a 16:9 cabinet over standard 500×500mm?

Because your content lives in 16:9. Standard cabinets force you into compromise resolutions (1680×945, 2100×1181) that either scale or crop native HD/4K content. DEK hits 1920×1080, 2K and 3840×2160 natively — sharper image, simpler signal chain, no scaling artefacts.

How close can audiences get before pixels become visible?

Rule of thumb: minimum viewing distance is roughly pixel pitch in mm × 1 metre. So P1.25 is comfortable from 1.25m, P1.87 from about 1.9m, P0.9 from under 1m. We will recommend the right pitch based on your room’s viewing positions and typical content (text-heavy versus video-heavy).

Is DEK suitable for 24/7 operation?

Yes. DEK modules are rated for continuous operation with thermal management designed for always-on use. For mission-critical environments (control rooms, broadcast studios) we include redundant power and data, plus remote monitoring.

Can we integrate DEK with our existing AV control system?

DEK accepts HDMI, DisplayPort, 3G/12G-SDI and IP video sources via the LED processor. Integration with Crestron, Extron, AMX and similar control systems is standard — we supply the driver specification and work directly with your AV integrator on commissioning.

What is the lead time on a typical DEK install?

Build-to-order lead times are typically 6–8 weeks from PO, with install and commissioning adding 1–2 weeks depending on site access and size. We can expedite for live project deadlines — talk to us early.

Specify a DEK screen for your project

Send us your room dimensions, target screen size, viewing distances and content type. We will come back with the correct pixel pitch, a tile layout drawing, a power and data schedule, and a clear breakdown of what ships and what we install. Every DEK quote includes honest advice on whether 16:9 cabinet is genuinely the right fit — or whether one of our other LED families would serve you better.
