Dynamo LED Displays upgraded the LED tenant board it first installed at 338 Euston Road, London, in 2016, replacing the original 10mm pixel pitch screen with a 2.5mm LED display behind the lobby’s tinted glass. The new board shows tenant listings, building information and full-motion video, and is updated remotely through an online content management system.

The brief: keep the board, change the picture
The tenant board had done its job since 2016, but a 10mm pitch was specified for a lobby when most LED tenant boards showed static lists of names. By 2025 the building wanted the same position to carry campaign video and sharper type for visitors standing a metre or two from the glass. The brief was to upgrade the display in place rather than redesign the lobby, which is a common request for an indoor LED display that has reached the end of its first life.
What Dynamo installed
From 10mm to 2.5mm in the same opening
The 10mm screen was removed and a 2.5mm LED display fitted in the same opening behind the tinted glass, so the architectural finish of the lobby did not change. At 2.5mm the board carries sixteen times the pixel density of the original, which is the difference between a list of names in large type and a screen that can show a rendered development image, a logo wall or a video with legible captions.

Behind tinted glass
Mounting the LED behind tinted glass hides the module grid when the screen is off and gives the lobby a single dark glass panel rather than a visible screen. The glass costs some brightness, which is why a fine-pitch indoor module with headroom was chosen: the picture reads clearly through the tint without running the LEDs at full output.
Remote content control
The upgrade added an online content management system, so the building team changes tenant listings, posts notices or schedules a campaign from a browser rather than on site. Content can be timed, so a welcome message runs in the morning and a campaign in the afternoon, and the system reports that the screen is online. Our LED display CMS page explains how scheduling and remote monitoring work.
Current Dynamo options for an LED tenant board
A tenant board is read from close range in a lit lobby, so the choice is between the finest fixed-install pitches. DIT Pro figures are from the supplier specification and DX figures from the DX Series datasheet; no prices are given here. The corporate reception LED wall buying guide covers sizes, pitches and brightness for a lobby, and LED brightness for lobbies and receptions explains how much headroom glass and daylight take.
| Model | Pixel pitch | Pixels per 250 × 250 mm module | Brightness | Suited to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DIT Pro P1.9 | 1.95mm | 128 × 128 px | 600 nits | Tenant boards and directories read at arm’s length, small type |
| DX2.5 | 2.5mm | 100 × 100 px | 800 nits or more | Lobby boards behind glass or near daylight, video and logos |
| DX2.9 | 2.9mm | 84 × 84 px | 800 nits or more | Larger reception walls read from across the lobby |

LED tenant boards: frequently asked questions
What is an LED tenant board?
An LED tenant board is a fine-pitch LED screen in a building lobby that replaces the printed directory of tenants. It lists the companies and floors, carries building notices and campaign content, and is updated remotely. The 338 Euston Road board has done this since 2016 and was upgraded from 10mm to 2.5mm in 2025.
What pixel pitch does a tenant board need?
Visitors read a tenant board from one to two metres, so 1.9mm to 2.5mm keeps names and floor numbers sharp and lets the board show video and logos. A 10mm board, which was common in 2016, can only show large type at that distance, which is why older boards are now being upgraded in place.
Can an existing LED tenant board be upgraded?
Yes. In most cases the old modules and cabinets come out of the opening and a finer-pitch display goes into the same space, reusing the power and data routes, so the joinery and glass are untouched. The 338 Euston Road upgrade kept the same opening and the tinted glass and changed only the LED and the control system.
Does LED work behind tinted glass?
Yes, provided the module has brightness in reserve. Tinted glass absorbs part of the light, so a module rated at 600 to 800 nits indoors is run below its maximum and still reads clearly through the glass. The benefit is a clean black panel when the screen is off and no visible module grid.
How is the content on a tenant board updated?
Through an online content management system. The building manager logs in from a browser, edits the tenant list or uploads a campaign, and sets when it runs. Nobody needs to visit the lobby, several buildings can be managed from one account, and the system shows whether the screen is online.
