Largest LED Cinema Screen Unveiled By Samsung
In the early 2017, the Korean electronics giant announced the plan to start making LED cinema displays. The first such device saw the light of day only a few months later.
Rewind a year and a half and Samsung’s cinema LED screens are again in the spotlight. This time, it’s the screen unveiled at the Capital Cinema, in Chinese capital, Beijing.
The reason why this screen has gotten the headlines is that it’s the largest of its kind. Named the Onyx Cinema, this LED screen is 14 meters wide, which is 1.4 times wider than its predecessor.
Apart from being large, the screen is interesting for a few more reasons. Some of its most attention-grabbing specs include HDR picture quality, 4K resolution, and peak brightness of 88fL. On top of that, the screen is 3D-ready.
All of this suggests that the days of the old-fashioned cinema projectors have come to end. Still, the revolution in theaters probably won’t be too swift for the fact that LED screens are much pricier than their traditional counterparts.
